Paralegal III Employment Compliance

Purpose:

This position is responsible for supporting in-house litigation management in the employment law arena, tracking and analyzing internal and external claim data, administering matter and case management systems, monitoring compliance with injunctive obligations, reviewing outside counsel bills for compliance with established guidelines, and responding to employment-related subpoenas. All responsibilities pertain to the company’s workforce, claims/litigation, and related procedures in North America.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Litigation Support

• Maintain, update, and organize electronic litigation case files

• Calendar, monitor, and facilitate compliance with litigation deadlines

• Prepare for and/ or conduct witness interviews, fact-finding, and discovery responses (and/or assist counsel with same)

• Prepare responses to administrative agency charges/complaints under supervision of counsel to include, without limitation: conducting witness interviews, reviewing documents, drafting position statements based on relevant facts and persuasive legal arguments, communicating with agency investigators/ other government representatives

• Track, monitor, and facilitate compliance with injunctive obligations

• Communications with opposing counsel as needed

Case Management Administration

• Review, assess, triage, and assign internal reports received through incident management system

Data and Analytics

• Maintain and update employment claim tracker

• Analyze and present claim metrics and trends

• Maintain and update claim data in matter management system

Employment Subpoenas

• Review and respond to subpoenas for employment records, including drafting legal objections as appropriate

Billing Review

• Review bills from third-party vendors in light of case work and billing guidelines; review discrepancies with vendor

Document Management

• Maintain, update, and organize other electronic files

Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualification and Experience:

List required software, hardware & technology of the work unit

• Proficient with Microsoft suite (including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint, and Teams)

• Proficient with matter and case management systems

Others:

• Solid understanding of U.S. employment laws and US legal procedural requirements

• Proven analysis and problem-solving skills

• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential information

• Highly organized and attentive to details

• Proven ability to track and analyze data

• Ability to draft persuasive legal arguments

• Comfortable advocating on company’s behalf with government representatives and outside counsel

Education:

Combined experience of 5+ years in at least six (6) of the following areas:

  • Litigation paralegal (in-house a plus)

  • Responding to subpoenas

  • Conducting witness interviews

  • Drafting substantive, persuasive responses to administrative/government agency charges/complaints

  • Monitoring compliance with injunctive obligations

  • Reviewing legal bills

  • Maintaining electronic case files

  • Workplace investigations case management/oversight

  • Data management and analytics
